A Musical Journey Through the Elements
The "The Elements" concert series celebrates the natural beauty that gives White Rock its sense of place. The first concert in the series is "Air," which honors music connected to the vast expanses of sky and clouds. Imagine soaring larks, frantic bumblebees, and the freshness of the air at morning dawn—just a hint at the music in the program!
The Trio always starts with a long list of pieces. We whittle them down to the ones we most want to play and that resonate with our theme. Every piece of music we perform is handcrafted. We spend considerable time in the planning and writing stages. It is pure joy because there is so much wonderful music to explore. We love putting our modern twist on things and bringing the beauty of some lesser-known pieces to our audiences!
Exploring Unique Musical Pieces
One such piece is "Westron Wynde," the ye-olde-worlde spelling of "Western Wind." This song dates back around 500 years and is perhaps the first known recorded song about the wind. The song first appeared with lyrics in a manuscript from around the year 1530!
Here's a glimpse of Bruce (Piano) during the writing and arranging stages. He settled on three variations, arranging for violin, double bass, and piano:
Another remarkable piece is "The Lark Ascending" by Vaughan Williams. This piece captures the soaring acrobatic display of larks rising and falling on the summer breeze. For this, we took the original score for orchestra and the piano/violin reduction to create our unique arrangement for Trio. This wonderfully lyrical piece will be showcased by our Monika as the violin soloist.
The Joy of Curating Music
We usually create around 10 to 12 handcrafted pieces for each concert. The first concert in "The Elements" series has been such a joy to curate. Although a lot of work goes into the writing and arranging, it is as much fun and as rewarding as the performing part!
The Importance of Music in Our Lives
Music plays a vital role in our lives. It connects us to our emotions and the world around us. Each note we play tells a story, evoking feelings and memories. The "Air" concert is a perfect example of how music can reflect nature's beauty.
Engaging with the Audience
We strive to create an engaging experience for our audience. Each concert is designed not just to showcase our talent but also to connect with listeners on a deeper level. We want you to feel the essence of the music and the stories it tells.
Conclusion: Join Us for an Unforgettable Experience
Join us for the "Air" concert and experience the magic of music that celebrates the beauty of nature. We invite you to immerse yourself in the melodies that resonate with the elements around us. Let the music transport you to a place of tranquility and joy.
