To mark National Polish Day, Nov 5th 2024 we were delighted to give a Salon concert and perform music exclusively arranged to complement the poetry of Czesław Miłosz. We were guests of the Polish Consulate, Vancouver, BC and the evening was an intimate "Soirée" show and a joy to perform.
Here's our version of 'List do M' (Letter to my Mother) by Polish artist Dżem (Jam) arranged and performed by the Trio.
Poetry readings were performed by the celebrated Polish actress Liliana Komorowska , with context and introductions by Prof. Katarzyna Szrodt. One of the most respected figures in 20th-century poetry, Miłosz was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1980 and we were very honoured to be a part of the celebrations of his life and works and to make National Polish Day.
Our music program for this special evening included three pieces by Polish composer Frederick Chopin specially arranged by Bruce Petherick (piano) as improvisational jazz pieces for the trio. Two contemporary iconic Polish tunes 'Upojenie' (Ecstasy) and 'List do M' (Letter to my mother) were arranged for the Trio by Peter Koyander (guitar and double bass).
Poetry readings: Liliana Komorowska (Left)
